Celebrating 30 years of FES in Namibia

On 20 November, 2019, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) celebrated the 30th anniversary of opening its offices in Namibia – 30 years of promoting democracy, development social justice and peace through capacity-building, policy research, public dialogue as well as international exchange and partnerships with various stakeholders to encourage participatory democracy. On this occasion FES bid farewell to Mr Heiner Naumann, the Outgoing Resident Representative and welcomed Mrs Freya Gruenhagen, the Incoming Resident Representative.



The event was honoured by the presence of the following speakers:

Mrs. Christiane Kesper: Director of the Division for International Development Cooperation - FES headquarter in Berlin - 50 Years of FES Development Cooperation in Africa; His Excellency, Mr. Herbert Beck: Ambassador of Germany - Cooperation between Germany and Namibia - The Role of Political Foundations; Mr. Phanuel Kaapama: Political Analyst - The Role of a Political Foundation (FES) in Promoting Democracy

And a wide diversity of guests enjoyed the view from the Independence Museum Restaurant.
